LS 34 Live at the KSSK Perry & Price Saturday Morning Show (3-16-2013)

Written by SandyT.  This is the 2nd time I had the chance to perform on the Perry & Price Saturday Morning Show.  The first time was in 2007 at the John Dominis Restaurant with the Kapolei Chorale under the direction of Music Director, Doris Dudley.   At that performance the Super Ferry gave everyone in the audience a free round trip ticket on the Super Ferry. What a bonus!

This March 16, 2013 performance at the Jade Dynasty Restaurant was to help promote the Mom's On a Mission April 6th Rock and Roll Night, a fundraiser to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii.   Mom's On a Mission and Ronald McDonald House had planned to make an appearance on February 23rd but once KSSK Radio got word of LS 34, they wanted the band to also make a special appearance with them.

We (LS 34) get together only once a month for a 5-hour Saturday rehearsal in our Mililani studio.  All our 11 band members have full time jobs and are busy with their families; therefore, getting in touch with everyone for availability can sometimes be challenging.  This radio performance was something new to us and so getting all the logistics settled before hand was least to say 'rough'.  So many details. Can we fit all 11 members on the stage?  How much time do we have to set up all our equipment?  Sound quality?  Many emails and phone tags with band members and key radio people.  The restaurant was already sold out and could only afford to remove 1 table in front of the stage.  We were scheduled to appear at 10:30 am with a 10 minute window to set up after the last act, and a minimal sound check. Aiya!

Long story short, at the last hour the band decided to create a recording and just have the 4 singers (Ken, Karl, Ronald and Sandy) represent LS 34 that morning.  The band got together to recorded 3 songs, on very few takes with no mistakes.  We were ready.  The Perry & Price show turned out to be a success as there was a surge of ticket sales after the show.  It was wonderful to see and hear our band members, our families and our friends in the audience.  Thank you to Cynthia Murphy who got her Waipahu High School Class of 1970 gang to attend the breakfast show. You folks were awesome!  Mahalo to Roxane Kimura and Anne Komatsu of Moms On a Mission, and Gene Davis of Ronald McDonald House for the opportunity.  Special Mahalo to Perry & Price, Sweetie Pacarro, and Dale Machado for making this all possible.  Let's do it again! and Don't Stop The Music!
